Selling Photos - NEW!
Over the many years of my association with Outdoor Photographer magazine, many photographers have asked me how to sell their photos to that magazine and others. I have also done workshops on this for photo groups around the country. With my experience both as an editor buying photos and as a photographer selling photos, I have literally worked both sides of this market. This ebook is based on all of that experience and gives a definite path to understanding how to sell photos to publications in today's challenging market. You do not have to have an ebook reader such as the Kindle in order to read this book. You can download a Kindle app to any computer, Mac or PC, that will let you read the book. You can also download a Kindle app to an iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and more on Amazon.

Photoshop Elements 9: Top 100 Simplified Tips and Tricks
Photoshop Elements has become a superb image processing program that a fraction of the cost of its big brother, Photoshop. Photoshop Elements can do nearly anything that most photographers will need to do. This book is geared toward photographers and toward making the features of Photoshop Elements clear and easy to understand. I worked hard to make this book accessible and appropriate for photographers. It covers a complete workflow from importing photos to adjusting them optimally to using layers to printing and more.

New Epson Guide to Digital Printing
I originally put this book together from the suggestion of a friend at Epson, Dan Steinhardt. We both felt that a lot of the printing information out in the book and magazine world was too technical and not geared toward the average photographer. So I agreed to do this book with an Epson flavor, though it is an independent book from Lark Books. Now that the book has gone through multiple revisions and updates, I have been gratified by having many photographers come to me and thank me for this book. I have seen books with tags throughout. The book has an Epson flavor to it, obviously, but I can attest from talking to a lot of people at my workshops that everything in this book works to make printing easier and better for the photographer.

The Magic of Digital Landscape Photography
Scenic photography is a perennially popular subject - and no one is better than Rob Sheppard, founding editor of Outdoor Photographer, to help photographers master the art of shooting landscapes. In the tradition of Sheppard’s bestselling The Magic of Digital Nature Photography, this new book covers everything from cameras and lenses to tools and techniques, all interpreted from the landscape photographer’s perspective. It gives details on working with skies, water, light, and other crucial elements, and puts the information together in an inspiring and accessible way. Several chapters hone in on particular types of landscape, while a variety of professionals weigh in with their own point of view on the topic.

Kodak Guide to Digital Photography
I had long wanted to do a rather complete guide to digital photography in one book, yet a book that would be accessible and readable by all levels of photographers. The Kodak Guide to Digital Photography is not for the point-and-shoot photographer, but rather for the photo enthusiast who wants to learn how to better use all parts of digital photography, from choosing lenses to selecting shutter speeds to understanding f-stops to using flash and much more.

The Magic of Digital Nature Photography
One of my latest books is a guide to capturing all elements of
nature with a digital camera. I tried to integrate pretty nature photographs
with tips on how to photograph many subjects. From landscape photography
to close-ups to wildlife, I worked to make this book offer how-to tips
and inspiration for photographers who want better photographs of nature.
It is also a nature book, filled with
celebratory images of the natural
world from the smallest critters to the largest landscapes.

Outdoor Photographer's Landscape and Nature Photography with Photoshop CS2
I am really excited about this new book. It is quite different from most Photoshop books in that it truly is directed to the needs of nature photographers, plus, it has two chapters with Ansel Adams in them! Ansel Adams actually is a great model for the use of Photoshop and nature photography in his approach to the craft of photography. And you'll discover why his printing notes are a lot like using layers! I am very pleased to get
this book out for nature photographers so they don't have to weed
through a lot of Photoshop stuff that doesn't apply to them.

PCPhoto Digital SLR Handbook
PCPhoto Digital Zoom Camera Handbook
I did these two book to offer specific guide for photographers to quickly learn how to get the most from a digital camera. I tried to give an idea of what makes digital photography special and why that matters to the photographer today. In each book, I put together what I think are the key elements of digital photography as specifically related to each type of camera. The books parallel each other, obviously, but I really did try to relate my experience with digital SLRs and digital zoom cameras (or advanced digital cameras) to the specific topics within the books. There's everything from understanding megapixels to exposure and the histogram to using flash.

The National Geographic Field Guide to Photography: Digital
Obviously, photography has changed with digital photography. I worked with National Geographic Books a couple of years ago on this book which was designed to be a guide to digital as it relates very specifically to photographers with tips on everything from picking the right camera to producing panoramic images. While the gear listed at the beginning is starting to get a little old, I believe the book still provides a quick and easy overview to getting the most out of new digital technology, from camera to digital darkroom, and even talks a bit about photographic ethics.

Magic Lantern Guides: Canon EOS 20D (Magic Lantern Guides)
I happen to think very highly of the Canon EOS 20D. It is a great little camera for the money. When it came out, Lark Books asked me to do this Magic Lantern Guide, essentially an expanded camera manual with a lot more how-to information and more down-to-earth guidance than you get in the actual manual. There are some tricks in here that you won't find in the manual, either. I did try to include very hands-on advice on the camera's technological capabilities.
